Warehouse Transformation: Industore’s Warehouse Upgrade for Ledwood
Ledwood, a prominent engineering and construction firm, recently partnered with Industore to modernise its warehouse operations. Founded in 1983, Ledwood specialises in complex projects within the oil, gas, process, and energy sectors. With a focus on efficiency and operational excellence, Ledwood sought an advanced storage solution to boost capacity, organisation, and security.
Lean-Lifts at Ledwood:
Industore provided a customised automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) solution, designed specifically for Ledwood’s needs – which involved specifying and installing multiple bays of bulk storage racking, as well as implementing two Hänel Lean-Lifts integrated with the powerful HänelSoft warehouse management software. This upgrade from traditional storage to a high-tech automated system has significantly enhanced Ledwood’s intralogistics, streamlining storage and retrieval processes for essential project components and equipment. Ledwood’s machines were branded with their company logo.
Key Features of Industore's Solution at Ledwood:
With the installation of two Hänel Lean-Lifts, Ledwood maximised vertical space, reducing the storage footprint and freeing up valuable floor area for other operations. This setup has also increased Ledwood’s bulk storage capacity.
Inventory protection is critical for Ledwood’s operations, given the sensitive nature of some client projects. The Lean-Lifts are equipped with advanced access controls, restricting access to authorised personnel and providing comprehensive audit trails—always recording who accessed what, when, and why. This ensures peace of mind for both Ledwood and their clients.
Industore’s proprietary HänelSoft software enables seamless integration with Ledwood’s existing IT systems, significantly boosting operational efficiency. This flexible, intuitive platform allows the simultaneous and independent management of both units, ensuring real-time inventory control and comprehensive data tracking for bulk storage. This empowers Ledwood to have full visibility of their inventory, as well as facilitates better planning, forecasting and spending for the future.
Industore’s solution is built with adaptability in mind, supporting Ledwood’s future growth and evolving storage needs. The Lean-Lifts are designed to be future-proof, allowing Ledwood to adjust stock requirements without compromising operational efficiency.
By optimising throughput and reducing manual handling, Industore’s solution has lowered operational costs, while increasing throughput, and minimising retrieval times. Ledwood also enjoy enhanced safety, thanks to the Lean-Lifts’ single delivery points, (‘Goods-to-Person’ (formally ‘G2M’)), achieving faster timelines and all but eliminating risks of loss, damage, or injury.
Industore’s two Lean-Lifts work in tandem. One unit retrieves while the other is being accessed, minimising pick times. Project Manager Steve Anderson-Tyso also considered the finer aspects of this project, such as facility layout. This holistic strategy ensured true transformation by optimising throughput, enabling clients to unlock the maximum possible benefit.
With Industore’s innovative ASRS and warehouse management solutions, Ledwood has transformed its warehouse into a streamlined, secure, and future-ready facility. Industore’s solution also has the potential to envelop one of the lifts at Ledwood inside a temperature-controlled environment, offering added flexibility for sensitive project materials.
